What is the best way to demo AI calling to a prospect, and should the AI say it is an AI?

Votel recommends that you do not start with an automated demo where the AI phones the prospect and pretends to answer as their business. People tend to freeze, do not know what to say, or try to trick or break it, so the experience is worse than a guided demo. Prospects also want a person to reassure them it will work for their specific business, so have a human first touch before any AI calling.

Instead, show it yourself on a screen share or a call, using the live demo in test mode, so you stay in control of how the demo goes. Also save one of your AI agent phone numbers as a contact in your phone, so you can call it anywhere on speaker and show how it works.

On disclosure, many businesses choose to say that it is AI so nobody feels tricked. A common approach is to say so in the opening message, for example "This is the AI assistant for the business, I'm calling because...". That answers the question up front, since some people ask directly whether they are talking to an AI.
